Post box in Inishbiggle has retired but kept its pole and official lettering. A lovely arrangement: retain the title, remain visible in the parish, and let somebody else deal with the correspondence. All it needs now is a seat on a committee.
Pole-mounted cast-iron "lamp box" post box, between 1939-84, with "P7T [Posts and Telegraphs]" monogram. Now disused. Set in roughcast boundary wall.
A ""lamp box"" post box representing an interesting example of mass-produced cast-iron work with embellishments identifying the artistic potential of the composition including the Cló Gaelach or ""Old Irish Lettering"" defining the monogram of the Department of Posts and Telegraphs (fl. 1924-84).
