This cast-iron post box forms a modest though attractive addition to the streetscape of Bettystown. The recognisable form and simple detail illustrate the artistic qualities of mass production at the time of its casting. Post-boxes of this material are becoming increasingly rare in Ireland and are now often replaced by plastic boxes.
