Cast-iron post box, c. 1890, with VR monogram.
This post box is representative of late nineteenth-century cast-iron post boxes in Ireland, and retains a well executed monogram. It is interesting to note the changes in the decorative detail of cast-iron post boxes from Victorian times to the latter part of the twentieth century.
