Cast-iron wall-mounted post box, c.1890, with V.R. insignia and raised crown motif. Rectangular aperture and display panel. Set into wall of commercial premises at corner of Barrack Street and Main Street.

A finely crafted in use post box located at a prominent crossroads in Bantry. The form of this modest functional object is enlivened by an embossed royal insignia which identifies the date of production to the reign of Queen Victoria (1837-1901).
