This is one of two penitential stations (see also CL016-158003-) associated with a holy well (CL016-158001-).
It consists of a triangular cairn (c. 3.6m N-S; c. 3m E-W) that decreases in height from S (H 0.6m) to N where it is flush with the ground surface. The well occupies its SW angle. A path outside the cairn, from the SW angle to the N apex, leads to the Saint’s seat that consists of four blocks cemented on top of each other and capped with a stone, which is naturally scalloped and shaped, and looks similar to a tractor seat in appearance. The well and cairn are located within a stone-walled enclosure (c. 15m N-S; c. 5-6m E-W).

Penitential stations like Cahersherkin were often linked to early Christian pilgrimage practices, particularly those associated with the Stations of St. Brigid or St. Patrick, where pilgrims would perform acts of penance. The site's association with a holy well suggests it may have been part of a broader ritual landscape used for prayer, healing, or spiritual reflection.
The monument record does not grant public access. Check the route and ask the landowner before entering private land.
