Annotated 'St. Patrick's Well' on the Cassini ed. OSi 6-inch map where it is shown standing on the N side of a public road which marks the townland boundary between Raheennamadra and Mitchelstowndown East. This holy well stands in the parish of Knocklong, in the barony of Knocklong. Folklore collected from Glenbrohane School recorded that; 'There seems to have been no Patron Saint in this locality, still the Catholic Church is called St. Patrick's and there's a well not far from here called St. Patrick's well' (The Schools’ Collection, Volume 0511, Page 511; https://www.duchas.ie/en/cbes/4922051/4847737/4955886?ChapterID=4922051).
