What is recorded here

Situated on a slight natural rise in gently undulating grassland, Ringfort (WM015-021---) 200m to NE. Depicted on the 1837 OS Fair Plan map as an oval-shaped enclosure delimited by 2 concentric lines, annotated on map as ‘fort’. Depicted on 1837 ed. OS 6-inch map as a circular shaped enclosure intersected at W by a roadway/laneway running roughly N-S. Present remains consist of a large sub-circular shaped area (approx. diam. 35m NE-SW; 36m NW-SE) enclosed by a low, poorly preserved earthen bank that has been reduced to a scarp in places, and has several disturbance gaps. Traces of cultivation ridges are visible running N-S across the interior. Field fences intersect the perimeter of the monument at SW and NW. See attached profile of monument surveyed and drawn by the ASI. Compiled by: Frank Coyne and Caimin O'Brien Date of upload: 7 September 2018
