Tobar na Croise is a spring well located near the head of Kilduff valley. Rounds have not been made here for 30 or 40 years. Ó Danachair (1960, 71) suggested that this was the well from which the Ballynahunt ogham stone (KE045-016----) reputedly came. Ó Danachair (1960, 71) recorded the following details about this well; 'This well is still visited occasionally. Nine circuits of the well are made while a rosary is recited : in the full ritual this should be done on nine successive mornings before sunrise or evenings after sunset. The well held a cure for the " evil ". An ogham stone [KE045-016----] carved with a cross now in the neighbouring townland of Ballynahunt is said to have been taken from this well'. Tobar na Croise is traditionally associated with Saint Duff, whose name is reflected in the local place-name "Kilduff." The well was once a site of ritual water offerings, though such practices have ceased in recent decades.
