Outbuilding in Britfieldstown

Detached three-bay two-storey outbuilding, built c.1800, having rubble limestone steps giving access to first floor of side (east) elevation and single-bay single-storey lean-to to side (west) elevation. Pitched slate and replacement corrugated-iron roofs having rendered chimneystack and partially rendered limestone eaves course. Rubble limestone walls. Square-headed and pointed arch window openings having exposed timber lintels and timber battened shutters. Loop openings to ground floors of front and rear elevations. Camber-headed door openings with limestone voussoirs to front elevation, having replacement timber battened doors. Square-headed door openings elsewhere, having replacement single and double-leaf timber battened doors. Two-bay single-storey outbuilding to west of complex. Pitched corrugated-iron roof with render gable copings. Rubble limestone walls. Square-headed window opening with render lintel. Square-headed door opening having render lintel and timber battened door.

This fine outbuilding is a reminder of the agricultural heritage of the area. Much of its historic fabric remains intact, and it makes an attractive roadside addition.
