Cross-Inscribed Ogham Stone: This stone stands 1.95m high and measures .25m x .13m at base. Its upper end tapers to a rather rough point. The inscription was read by Macalister (1945, 229) as: ANM MOLEGOMRID MACI VECUMEN The vowels E and O are represented by the forfeda. An I, between the M and R of the second word, was dismissed by Macalister as modern nicking. The last three letters of the word MACI are no longer discernible. A roughly executed cross, possibly secondary, is carved at the base of the stone. Brash recorded that the stone stood upside-down prior to its removal to the Christian Brothers' monastery in Cahersiveen in the 1870s (1879, 240). It was returned to the site shortly afterwards. and Sheehan, J. (compilers) 'The Iveragh peninsula: an archaeological survey of South Kerry'. Cork University press. (1996), no. 959.
