What is recorded here

On top of a broad hill, and described as an old church called Tamplereagh by J. O'Donovan in 1837 (O'Flanagan 1931, vol. 2, 42). It is depicted on the 1915 ed. of the OS 6-inch map as a circular area (diam. c. 90m) defined by curving field banks WSW-N-ESE. It is known locally as Teampull church, and the graveyard is described locally as an area of about 2 acres (c. 0.8ha) which contained low mounds but no grave markers. The graveyard is an ecclesiastical enclosure defined by a field bank and hedge WSW-N, but the perimeter N-ESE has been removed and no mounds are now visible in pasture. The outline of the enclosure (diam. c. 80m) is visible as a fosse feature on the OSI aerial images (2005) and Bing (c. 2013).
