NATURAL CAVE in Lettermire

NATURAL CAVE

What is recorded here

Lettermire hides a natural cave beneath its Derry soil, waiting for boots to find its dark mouth. The rock likely chiselled the chamber long before human hands marked the landscape, creating a chamber where rain echoes and darkness swallows light. People may have sheltered there during violent storms or simply sat inside to watch the sky change colours through a narrow opening. The cave remains patient, preserving the kind of quiet that only untouched stone understands.
The official Northern Ireland record identifies this as NATURAL CAVE. Recorded period: UNCERTAIN. The official map point was placed at the centre of the recorded archaeological site from the source map reference.

The monument record does not grant public access. Check the route and ask the landowner before entering private land.
