Mound in Raheen (clanwilliam By., Roxborough Ed)

Located in low-lying, well-drained, flat pasture, c. 12m W of a tributary of the Ballyclogh River. Sub-oval area (14m E-W; 8m N-S) defined by a scarp (H 0.15m; Wth. 2.2m). A hawthorn tree grows at the S edge of the mound.

A sub-oval earthen mound, likely a Neolithic or early Bronze Age burial tumulus; its small size and low scarp suggest a simple funerary or ceremonial function. The presence of a hawthorn tree may indicate long-standing local tradition or later ritual use.
