Situated in a low-lying area. A rectangular area (dims. c. 60m N-S, 44m E-W) defined by an inner bank (Wth c. 2.8m; int. H c. 0.3m, ext. H c. 0.5m) from NW-SW, and a scarp from SW-NW; an intervening fosse (Wth c. 6.8m) and outer bank (Wth c. 3.2m; int. H c. 0.7m, ext. H c. 0.4m) except at W where a stream flows. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Laois' (Dublin Stationery Office, 1995) compiled by P. David Sweetman, Olive Alcock and Bernie Moran.
