Moat Castle in ruins — Report the wrong picture

What is recorded here

Moat Castle vanished entirely from the end of a ridge in County Laois, leaving no wall, stone or mark behind. That absence is sharper than ruin because memory still points to the exact spot while the earth offers nothing back. Forgetting completed what decay began.

Marked in SW quadrant of motte and bailey (LA030-021002-) on 1908 edition of the OS 6-inch map. Reference to a castle here (O'Flanagan 1933, vol. 2, 271, 274). Situated at the end of a ridge. No visible surface remains. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Laois' (Dublin Stationery Office, 1995) compiled by P.
