According to the Civil Survey (1654-6) in 'Castle John' which was under the proprietorship of 'James Tobyn of Killaghy Esqr. Irish Papist' there was 'a Mill out of repaire' (Simington 1931, vol. 1, 142). The exact location of this mill within the townland of Castlejohn is unknown.
