Midden in Raghly

On the N shore of the island-like peninsula of Raghly this midden was discovered in 2014. The remains consist of a deposit of shell material visible in the exposed cliff face below the turf line. Measuring c. 1m by 0.25m thick, it includes periwinkles and limpets with occasional mussel and razor-fish shells (pers. comm. Ciarán Davis, 14 October 2014). The compact and exposed limited extent of the midden suggests that the material may be contained within a pit-like feature. The attached images are uploaded courtesy of Ciarán Davis.
