What is recorded here

In pastureland c. 50m to the NNW of Merlin Castle (GA094-023----). This midden, consisting of a dense concentration of oyster, winkle and mussel shells, came to light during the removal of topsoil. It was roughly circular in plan (diam. c. 10m) and was exposed at a depth of 0.3-0.8m below the sod cover. A smaller concentration of shells (diam. c. 4m) with some animal bones and teeth was visible c. 20m to the E. Compiled by: Olive Alcock Date of upload: 3 March 2017
