Midden in Kilroe

On Bartragh Island, in Killala Bay. This midden, associated with ‘numerous hut-sites’ (MA022-088002-), was exposed on the island in the early 20th century. It was recorded that ‘sea-shells and pebbles, were found here. There were no flint implements. A hard stone, of a metamorphic kind, was used to make flakes and hammer-stones.’ (Brunicardi 1914, 197).
