What is recorded here

Near the top of a cliff, beneath a sod layer (D 0.3m). The cliff forms the western edge of a natural promontory, though the former estuary at the base of the cliff, in the Back Strand of Tramore Bay, has silted up and been reclaimed. This midden is c. 17m N of another midden (WA027-091----) and 15m and 19m S of two other middens (WA027-092---- and WA027-093---- respectively) and is 30m NW of the western face of Kilmealeague medieval church (WA027-009001-). A midden (L 1.6m; D 0.25m) consisting mostly of densely packed cockle shells, some small lumps of charcoal at the base and one mussel shell visible. A fragment of terracotta red pottery (L 0.05m; H 0.02m), with a simple moulding, had been visible at the base of the midden but was missing at time of inspection.
