What is recorded here

Knockfair once held a tomb large enough to break the memory of the people who built it. They may have dragged stone from rain-washed fields, bled on the edges, and left a hole wide enough for death to enter without begging. The chamber has vanished, but the shape of that effort still presses against the ground, waiting for a body strong enough to remember it.

A feature named 'Druid's Altar in ruins', shown on a pre-publication field map, was omitted from the published OS 6-inch map of 1845-8. There is no information about it in OS documents, nor are there any remains at the site now. Its nature remains uncertain.
