Megalithic structure in Kyle (clandonagh By.)

Not marked on the 1840 or 1906 editions of the OS 6-inch maps. Ledwich has recorded what he termed an ancient judgement seat on the hill of Kyle and reproduced a sketch of same (1803, 321, Plate XXX). The sketch shows what appears to be a large section of rock, apparently outcrop, in the shape of a chair. This is not now readily identifiable on the partly furze-grown hill. It may have been largely if not wholly natural in origin. Whether it ever served the purpose mentioned by Ledwich is not known. (Ledwich 1803, 321). No visible surface remains of any Megalithic structure on the top of Kyle Hill.
