Mary Brück, born Mary Teresa Conway in Ballivor, County Meath, in 1925, became one of Ireland’s leading solar astronomers before turning her sharp mind to the history of science itself. She studied at University College Dublin and the University of Edinburgh, worked at Dunsink Observatory, married director Hermann Brück, and helped shape astronomical research in Dublin and Edinburgh. A building at Dublin City University now bears her name, but the girl who first saw the universe through numbers and patience began in a small Meath town where eight children shared one roof and one sky.
