Man-made underground passage — Report the wrong picture

No modern instrument has measured the dark passage beneath the western half of the ringfort, but local memory preserves the sudden collapse that revealed it. A horse-drawn machine broke through the ground and fell into the hidden void, dragging human pride and animal muscle into the same black water. The opening may have swallowed more than soil; it may have exposed a route older than the fortress above. People can still drop a stone into that wound and listen for the distance the stone falls before the dark returns it.

In W half of ringfort (CO017-03001-). No visible surface trace. According to local information, discovered when horse-drawn machinery collapsed into it and is thought to extend outside the area of the ringfort (pers. comm. Dr. David J. Burdon).
