Man-made underground passage in Trawlebane

In undulating pasture, in a valley surrounded by low hills. In the 1930s a feature known as the 'Danes Hole' was recorded in this townland (SMCC). It was described as being 8-10 feet [2.4-3m] under the surface, with a straight corridor about 5 feet [1.52m] high covered over with stone and at either side extensions resembling small cells. According to local information, it was closed in for safety reasons. There are now no visible remains of it. The above description is derived from 'The Archaeological Inventory of County Cork.
