In 2011, quarry workers in County Galway exposed a narrow stone chamber and human remains, revealing that the ground above had hidden a deliberate passage. The low walls and displaced lintel suggest people once cut through solid earth to create a space for movement or memory. The quarry removed the soil that protected the chamber, forcing the hidden work into daylight after centuries of silence.

The creep of a Man-made underground passage and human remains (GA071-089----) were discovered in the W face of a sand and gravel quarry in 2011. The creep was defined by two low portions of vertical walling (ext. Wth 1.50m; ext. H 1m). The tops of the walls were 0.30m below ground surface and the E wall appeared to support a partially discplaced lintel. On the ground surface above and to the N of the creep, a shallow rectangular depression may indicate the track of the Man-made underground passage.
