Lounaghan in County Kerry holds a man-made underground passage hidden beneath a levelled rath. A small grassed opening reveals the edge of a horizontal stone slab, with a dark cavity waiting beneath. The passage may have served as a refuge, a treasury or a ceremonial chamber, yet no human name or date has survived to confirm its purpose.

In a levelled rath (KE094-008----). A grassed-over opening (diam. 0.4m; D 0.6m) was noted at the centre of a shallow depression in the rath. The edge of a horizontal stone slab, with a cavity beneath, is visible through the opening. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Kerry.
