Gurteenard hides two man-made underground passages inside a ringfort, though thick growth now blocks the entrance. Bowman noted the depressions in 1934, preserving the shape of what disappearance has since swallowed. The passages may have offered shelter, storage or escape, but the forgoen claims them back.

In ringfort (CO023-122---). Bowman (1934, 207) noted that 'two depressions in the centre show sites of Man-made underground passages'. Interior of fort heavily overgrown and inaccessible.
