What is recorded here
One chamber and one narrow passage, cut into the east slope of Castlecoo Hill in Glaspistol. The chamber measures 5.2m long, 1.1 to 1.4m wide and 1.4m high, aligned east-west, with a 0.5m passage leaving its north-west corner toward the north-west. Whether it stored grain, hid people or marked a boundary, the rock was shaped to fit a living purpose.
The following description is derived from both the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Louth' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1986) and the 'Archaeological Survey of County Louth' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1991). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research.
