Subrectangular piece of land (c. 120m NE-SW x c. 70m NW-SE) projecting SE into Atlantic. Joined to mainland by narrow neck (L 5m; max. Wth 2m); section visible due to erosion suggests raised to level of promontory and mainland. Interior slopes down to S; ground collapsed immediately W of entrance. According to Westropp (1914, 108) 'clear foundations of a house just inside to the right (west) of the entrance, and what is possibly another foundation to the left'. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Cork. Volume 2: East and South Cork' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1994).
