Man-made underground passage in Liscune UpperMan-made underground passage · 1 ydComputer-made picture

Explorer Tom Man-made underground passage in Liscune Upper is another hole in the ground, but this one seems to be hiding from the wind. The breeze keeps picking on it because it’s jealous. Bring your nan, she’ll know more about it than I do.

Enclosure in Liscune LowerEnclosure · 445 ydComputer-made picture

LiscloghMan-made underground passage · 574 ydComputer-made picture

Explorer Tom Lisclogh is a man-made passage hiding inside a rath, basically a secret basement for ancient people. The seagulls say it smells like old cheese and regret. Bring a flask and pretend you own the whole place now.

BarrowBarrow, unclassified · 1008 ydComputer-made picture

Explorer Tom Barrow in Gortroyan East is known locally as 'the fort', which is a bit of a stretch considering it’s mostly just a very round hill with opinions on its own importance. It claims to be from the same family as some famous kings, but I bet they’ve never met. Take a mate and argue about what it was for.

Trench's MonumentMausoleum · 1.2 mi

Explorer Tom Trench's Monument has a family tree that’s mostly made up of ghosts and bad decisions. It’s one of the biggest mausoleums around, so it expects respect or at least a nod. Stand where the owner stopped.

demesne walls/gates/railings1.4 mi

Explorer Tom Demesne walls in Moneyveen has caught my eye in Moneyveen, County Galway. I bet a demesne walls/gates/railings with a name like that could keep me talking all afternoon; I'm already inventing a daft little scene for it, and I'll stop before it turns into history.

Clonbrock CastleCastle, tower house · 4.2 mi

Explorer Tom Clonbrock Castle is well-preserved, partially restored, and sits in flat woodland by the river. Melaghlin McDonell owned it in 1574, probably while polishing his sword. Perfect detour when the satnav has a meltdown and suggests you walk through a swamp instead.

Sweet Chestnut4.2 mi

Explorer Tom Sweet Chestnut in County Galway would make Saint Patrick laugh his socks off. He’d call it a bit of a show-off for the acorns. Visit, then text me what you think. I'll pretend to read it.
