In pasture. According to local information levelled late 1970s. Depicted on 1842 and 1904 OS 6-inch maps as hachured circular enclosure (diam. c. 40m), truncated on NE side by roadway, with external fosse (ENE->N) shown on 1904 OS 6-inch map; on 1938 OS 6-inch map as hachured raised area (diam. c. 40m) with external fosse, entrance to SE. 'Two ramparts' with intermediate fosse and entrance to SE (Wth 24 feet) were recorded by Hartnett (1939, 85). Lisheenarylane, Rylane is a likely early-medieval ringfort, indicated by its circular enclosure and external fosse, truncated by a roadway on the northeast. Depicted on 19th- and early 20th-century maps, it was levelled in the late 1970s; local tradition may associate it with fairy lore common to such sites in Irish folklore.
