Lisheenarinka

In pasture, on level ground, on the S bank of a stream. The slight remains of a circular area (diam. c. 29m) with a depression in the centre. It is indicated on the 1846 OS 6-inch map as a circular enclosure (diam. c. 40m) with a trackway extending from the NE arc towards an enclosure (KE057-083----), which lies c. 300m to the SE. This rath is indicated on 1895 OS 6-inch map a bivallate circular enclosure (diam. c. 30m). A road lies adjacent to the W. Lisheenarinka, Drombrick is a likely early-medieval ringfort, indicated by its circular earthwork and central depression, typical of such settlements. Though folklore is not specifically recorded for this site, like many similar forts in Ireland, it may have later been associated with local fairy traditions.
