What is recorded here
Lisfineel Fort is a 39-metre circular ringfort in Galway grassland, built with four banks and three ditches that now appear as shallow ridges and hollows. Field walls and a trackway have cut through its outer edges, yet the repeated rings remain visible enough to walk around and imagine the hands that stacked them. The narrow gap at the northwest may be the original entrance, inviting entry into a place where human effort and fairy tradition still tangle.
In level grassland. Poorly preserved circular ringfort (D 39m) defined by four banks and three intervening fosses. The outermost fosse only survives at NW. A field wall, running E-W, cuts N section of the two outer banks; another field wall follows the line of the outermost bank from S to SW. A small mound extends from this bank at S. A trackway cuts the enclosing elements at SW. Gap (Wth 3.2m) at NW could be original.
