Leper hospital in Knockaunalour

According to Lee (1996, 31), in the parish of Ardnageehy, 'there is a place called Knockaunalour, meaning the little hill of the lepers'. Lee (ibid.) suggests that it can be inferred from this that a 'lazar-house or some kind of asylum for lepers was formerly established in the area.' According to local information, the name used for the area is 'Leper's Hill'. The precise location of this possible leper hospital is not known.
