Ladys Well

Situated on poorly drained land with a nearby church site (TN035-013002) to the SSE. A poorly preserved disused well partially filled in with collapsed drystone wall surround. There are no votive offerings around the well which was probably associated with a nearby Penal church. The above description is derived from 'The Archaeological Inventory of County Tipperary. Linked to a local tradition of healing and protection, Ladys Well may have been dedicated to a regional or lesser-known saint, as was common in early Christian Ireland. Holy wells were often associated with female saints or Marian devotion, and the name "Lady's Well" suggests a connection to the Virgin Mary or a local female holy figure.
