Entrance gateway to Knockavanny House, erected c.1850, comprising double-leaf vehicular gate of decorative cast-iron supported hanging between round-plan ashlar limestone piers having moulded cornices and cylindrical caps rising to cones. Similar cast-iron railings supported on these piers and outer rectangular-plan piers having recessed rectangular panels with moudled cornices and pyramidal capstones. Gates fronted by quadrant walls of coursed rubble limestone, with simple square-plan piers at each end with pyramidal caps.

This is a good example of mid-nineteenth-century classical design with good quality stonework and ironwork.
