Knockalisheen Bridge

Two-arch road bridge over river, dated 1948, incorporating fabric of earlier bridge, c.1850. Unpainted skim rendered walls over random rubble limestone construction with tapered buttresses to pier having triangular cut-water to south-east, inscribed date stone to parapet, and exposed random rubble limestone stepped abutment parapets. Two segmental arches with skim rendered squared limestone voussoirs, and rendered soffits. Sited spanning River Nier with overgrown banks to river.

An attractive and well-proportioned bridge of two periods of construction forming a landmark feature spanning the River Nier. The construction of the bridge is of some technical engineering significance.
