Kilshanvy Mill

Fresstanding mill comprising three-bay two-storey block at west, built c.1780, slightly higher three-bay three-storey block of c.1830 to east, latter having three-storey return with attic. Mass concrete lean-to structure to centre of façade. Pitched roofs, roofless to west block and remains of slated roof to east block. Rendered walls to front, and squared limestone blocks elsewhere. Half-moon window above first floor of west block. Weir on river and mill race leads to wheel pit at east end of structure.

This large mill building ceased production many years ago, but the walls and part of the roof survive. It is an important reminder of the great era of milling in Ireland in the late eighteenth and early nineteenth centuries.
