Freestanding limekiln, built c.1800, set against rising ground. Now in ruins. Rubble stone walls with segmental-arched opening formed of rough-hewn voussoirs.
This limekiln of vernacular construction is a physical reminder of the social and economic importance of lime burning for construction and agriculture in former times. Although it is now in a ruinous condition it makes a valuable contribution to the industrial heritage of the area.
This does not grant access. Most recorded buildings are privately owned; view them only from public ground unless the owner allows entry.
