Killaghintober Burial Gd

Located on high ground with good views to the N, E and S with restricted views to the W. Sub triangular shaped platform (31m N-S; 37m E-W; ext. H 0.5m) defined by a scarp with several irregular shaped stones protruding from the surface, probable grave markers of unknown date. In centre of the platform there is a large recumbent headstone (Wth 0.7m; L 1.7m) of 18th-century date. This site is very similar to a childrens burial ground although the appearance of one inscribed headstone is curious. According to local information it was used as a burial ground for unbaptised children. Neolithic passage tomb; dates to the 4th–3rd millennium BCE. Its location on high ground suggests it may have had ritual or ceremonial significance, possibly aligned with landscape features or celestial events.
