What is recorded here

James FitzGibbon was born in Glin, County Limerick, Ireland, on 16 November 1780, the start of a life that would carry him from local yeomanry to Canadian battlefields. He enlisted young in the Knight of Glin's Yeomanry Corps, then moved through the Tarbert Infantry Fencibles and the 49th Regiment of Foot, rising by merit rather than purchase when Isaac Brock made him an officer. His name became tied to Beaver Dams, where warning, courage and allied warriors turned a small force into a celebrated victory.
