What is recorded here
There is a record of a small standing stone (dims. c. 1.15m x c. 0.8m; H c. 0.6m) which was heavily scored. Some of the markings were tentatively accepted but ultimately rejected as an ogham inscription reading MORTAQADI (Macalister 1945, vol. 1, 261-2). The stone does not survive and there is no local knowledge of it.
Macalister, R. A. S. (1945) (reprint 1949) Corpus inscriptionum insularum Celticarum, 2 vols. Stationery Office, Dublin.
The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Waterford' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1999). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research.
