Inside a ringfort on the edge of Eastwell in north County Galway, a small unenclosed patch of ground holds the unnamed graves of unbaptised infants. The church denied them ceremony, so families used the ancient earthwork instead, laying each child east to west beneath moss-covered stones. That contradiction gives the place its edge: a Christian gesture made inside a pre-Christian structure, repeated until the ringfort itself became a cillín.
Infants Burial Ground is a graveyard in County Galway, Ireland.
