Enclosure

What is recorded here

In pasture, located on top of a narrow E−W ridge at the break of slope on the N side. There are extensive views to N−NW where the ground falls away precipitously to a flat expanse of bog. A stretch of bog also borders the S side of the ridge. This possibly a rath is shown on the 1919 OS 6-inch map as a circular enclosure (diam. c. 35-40m). It has been levelled. The outline can still be traced on the N arc as a slight scarp (H 1.3m), which merges with the natural fall of ground, and elsewhere as a slight surface undulation.
