Indicated is the pentagonal graveyard at Ruan church in County Clare, Ireland, where a masonry wall still holds hundreds of years of burial and memory. The O’Loghlen mausoleum stands north of the church, a formal stone room set among ordinary graves from the 19th and 20th centuries. The place is not forgotten; it is tended, extended and written about, as if the dead still belong to the living and the living still answer them.

The graveyard at Ruan church (CL025-070001-) is pentagonal in shape (c. 100m N-S; max. 62m E-W), defined by a masonry wall (H 1-1.4m). It is well cared for and extended to the W. It contains many 19th and 20th century graves and a mausoleum to the N of the church built for the O’Loghlen family of north Clare.
