I suspect a worker at the quarry in Millford could tell when a barrow held too much sand before anyone tried to move it. Their mate would insist on one more shovelful, take three heroic steps, and agree that the barrow had made its point.
In pastureland. A hachured feature marked on the 1930 edition of the OS 6-inch map proved on inspection in 1984 to be a disused sand pit marked by a hollow. Probably of 18th/19th century date.
