What is recorded here

Near the top of a gentle SE-facing slope in rough pasture and within an extensive multiperiod field system (CL009-059001-). Depicted on the 1840 ed. of the OS 6-inch map as roughly rectangular enclosed mixed tree copse. A slightly raised D-shaped platform (dims. 21.8m E-W; 18.1m N-S; H 0.2-0.4m; max H 1.2m) with a jagged side at W, which is probably the result of quarrying. The edge of the platform is defined by stone that may be naturally occurring fractured bedrock. The grass-covered interior is flush with the perimeter. Possibly an enclosure. A cashel (CL016-153002-) lies c. 44m to the SSE. Compiled by: Olive Alcock and Lynda McCormack Date of upload: 8 August 2022
A local fairy fort (ringfort/rath); wider significance not recorded.
