Marked 'Fort' on the OS 1836 and 1876 eds. Raised oval area enclosed by a low, narrow earthen bank and a narrow trench incorporated into a field boundary. Site is divided into two unequal portions by a field boundary running NE-SW, NW of which there is nothing visible at ground level. Original entrance not recognisable. Lisdonan is a likely early-medieval ringfort, indicated by its oval shape, enclosing bank, and ditch, typical of such settlements in Ireland. Though folklore is not specifically recorded for this site, like many similar forts, it may have later been associated with local fairy tradition due to its mysterious and ancient appearance.
