What is recorded here

Indicated is a ruined ringfort in County Cavan, Ireland, where a collapsed stone wall still surrounds a circular grass field about thirty-five metres across. Its eastern gap may have been the entrance used by people long before the fort lost its shape. The stones have not vanished; they have become the boundary of an ordinary field, carrying the memory of a defended home into daily farm life.

Raised circular area (int. diam. c. 35m) enclosed by a substantial although partly collapsed drystone wall which has been modified and incorporated into the field boundary. Gap at E may represent original entrance. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Cavan' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1995).
